Jim Sherburne - GMA Group

Sherburne has over twenty years experience in the creation and execution of all aspects of global marketing, business development and international sales strategies for enterprise software products. He was a co-founder of Nantucket Corporation, originators of Clipper, a successful software development environment for the dBASE language that was acquired by Computer Associates in 1991. His career includes working with such marquee companies as AOL, Sun Microsystems, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Rational Software, and Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI) to name a few.

Jim has also worked with a number of companies outside the high tech arena providing consulting services in area of business process management (BPM). He is currently Managing Partner and President of the GMA Group, a strategic marketing consultancy, working primarily with the software industry.

Having lived as an expatriate in both the United Kingdom and Germany, Jim is fluent in German and has a high degree of competency in French. He profitably launched four European subsidiaries, as well as concluding technology acquisitions and joint ventures in both Europe and Asia. More international successes.

In addition to significant experience in web services, service oriented architectures (SOA), application middleware and the storage domain, Sherburne is generally recognized as an expert on developer markets, as well as quality management and software Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), with a number of published articles to his credit.

Sherburne holds a BA in Political Science from University of California at Berkeley, specializing in International Relations.
